Why do people persist in trying to get me to link together coherent sentences before I've been able to get one cup of java pulsing through my veins? Don't they understand it's an exercise in futility and is often more likely to result in an irrational outburst of anger versus the helpful response they're hoping for? On the flip-side, if they wait until at least one cup of coffee has been consumed, they're all likely to find me to be the absolute picture of calm and contentment and willing to help them in any way I can. Two cups and I'm a miracle-worker! ;)
I suppose it's not their fault. They can really only learn the lesson the hard way. So I've been thinking that if I were to be merciful, I should look into creating my own emergency warning system to help my staff and other unsuspecting people gage the degree of danger involved in approaching me in the morning.
So here goes. What do you think? Will it get the message across? ;)
SEVERE: Severe Risk of Head Biting. Avoid Contact at All Costs.
HIGH: High Risk of Crankiness. Approach with Caution.
ELEVATED: Significant Risk of Disinterest. Turnaround May Lag.
GUARDED: General Risk of Exhaustion. Results of Contact Unpredictable.
IDEAL: Calm Waters Ahead. Conditions Ideal for Contact and Results.
Cheers,
Liz

Oh oh ... are you going to be okay at the game today? Will I be hanging with cranky Liz??!!
Hey T,
The game was great and I think I was acceptable company, but it could have been dicey there for a while, but you saw to it that I had some coffee in my system, so you dodged a bullet there! :)
Thanks for an awesome time. Go Jays Go!!!
I love your rating system! :-)
Hope you had a great time with Teena at the game.
You were ideal company, Liz!
Good luck with your decision! I'm sure you'll make the right one for the right reasons!
@ Lisa: Thanks muchly. I'm hoping it's a more humane way of getting my message across in the morning! ;)
@ Teena: Right back @ you! I had an awesome time. Thanks again.
Is that list available for publication??? Could definately use something like that!
:-)

Hi Liz,
Perhaps you should consider having a coffee fund where you would put a cup on your desk and have co-workers drop some coin into it. It would benefit them too!
there are these cute coffee mugs that read: "Instant Human. Just Add Coffee" and "Cup of Ambition."
I don't think anyone should be bothered in the morning. when people come into work, i always give them time to warm up (even the copy machines need to do it, so why not humans.) :)
@ Christie: Use it, and use it well. :)
@ Sarah: Thanks for the idea. I do work at a bank (notorious for watching the bottom line, not for paying their staff well), so I could use the extra financial support! ;)
@ April: I need that mug! ;)
